I said, “Alexa, turn the Living Room off” The lights turned off. I assigned the Diva smart switch to the living room group, and the Claro smart switch to the bedroom group. Afterwards, Alexa looks for devices to connect. I added my login details for the Lutron app and the Alexa app did the rest. I typed Lutron and a menu appeared that said “Connect your Lutron account to Alexa”. In the Alexa app, I selected “Add devices”. To begin, I turned both light switches on. The final step is setting up voice control. Once installed, I could turn the lights on and off from the app.

Lutron has many different types of switches so I made sure I selected the Diva smart dimmer and Claro smart switch from the list. However, it’s important you select the right switch. The app provides clear instructions on the setup. I already have the Lutron app installed so I just needed to add the Diva smart dimmer and the Claro smart switch. Connecting the Diva smart dimmer to the Lutron app After that, the Pico remote was paired to the dimmer switch. To do so, I pressed and held down the “off” button on the dimmer switch for 6 seconds and then on the remote. Instead, I paired the included Pico remote control to the Diva smart dimmer. However, I already have a Lutron Smart Hub so I didn’t need a second one.

Technically, the next step is to install the Lutron Smart Hub to my mesh Wi-Fi system. After that, I removed the light switch in my bedroom and replaced it with the Lutron Claro smart switch.

I removed the wires, replaced the dimmer switch, and reattached the wall plate. It looks almost identical to the Diva smart dimmer so I knew the install would be a breeze. Coincidentally, it’s a Lutron dimmer switch except it’s not smart. Next, I removed my existing dimmer switch. To find the right breaker, I turned the lights on and toggled through the breakers until the light went off. My circuit breaker is old and not properly labelled. For the most part, I’m comfortable doing electrical work but only when I’m certain the power is off. Pull out the FASS and push it back in.I’m installing the Diva smart dimmer in my living room.

Reset the switch by using the FASS, (Front Accessible Service Switch) located under the Off button.

Ensure Ganging and Derating has been accounted for so that the switch is not overloaded.

The switch is in an Over Temperature Protection (OTP) mode.

Load is Off and the status LED is blinking 4 times, pause, and repeats.

The Pico remote control battery is installed incorrectly.

The Pico remote control battery is low.

The Pico remote control is outside the 30 ft (9 m) operating range.

The switch is already at the light level the Pico remote control is sending.

Light does not respond to Pico remote control.

FASS on the switch is in the Off position.

Red and black wires on the switch are reversed.

Light does not turn on or switch LED does not light up. Select "On" or "Off" (default is On) and then tap on "Save" in the top right corner of the screen. Tap on the Claro Smart Switch from the Devices area in the Lutron App. This can only be disabled/enabled with the use of the Lutron App. Has a white soft glow status LED to indicate load status.
